Are there any entry requirements?

There are very few courses relevant to school staff which have rigorous entry requirements (eg, GCSE passes in particular subjects at particular levels).

And no-one should be put off even where courses do explicitly include specific entry requirements: most providers tend to be flexible, especially when learners have experience working in the field they want to study.

The main exceptions to this rule are:

A large number of school support staff develop in the job and are encouraged to work towards a level 2 qualification like an NVQ. For more see the 'Roles' area of the Skills4Schools site.

All staff applying for work in schools will be CRB checked as a condition of employment.
